What's this?

Whatever it is, its days are numbered.

I still have no idea what this is. I'm praying it's not poison ivy, which is entirely possible given the huge specimen growing down the street. :(

I zapped it with the Roundup today, just in case. It is sprouting up all over one of my flowerbeds.

Anybody out there have any clues as to what this might be?

the second picture looks a lot like a tomato seedling.

Hmm.

I feel fairly certain these are not tomatoes. They have grown a bit since these pictures were taken, and have only put out more clusters of three leaves, like the ones shown here. No signs of tomatoey-looking leaves yet. :(

This looks to me like Virginia Creeper. I have it all over my property, and it does start out with leaves of three which makes it look like poison ivy at first glance. I am having a problem with this vine. I think in the South because of the mild winter temperatures this can become very invasive.

It's probably pepper vine. Take a look at this link:

I once saw a virginia creeper growing up the fence in a shady part my garden, but it did not survive.

The USDA Plants Database says that peppervines are known to grow in this region, so that seems like a good candidate also.

It is tough to tell from those little sprout leaves, though.

I keep coming back to see if anyone has been able to name the plant. I love a good mystery!

I think we can eliminate Virginia Creeper. Today, while outside working, I compared it to some sprouts that were definitely virginia creeper.

The two sprout leaves on the v.c. were much larger, and the mystery weed does not have the right leaf shape. :(

I'm afraid the two plants are distinctly different.

I'm still open to more suggestions! :)
